NO MORE MOTION SICKNESS?

The unexpected interest in our Motion Sickness video has left us astounded.

If you have not seen the video ...here it is....

It's led me to reflect on the underlying reasons for its widespread appeal. I was completely unaware that this was a prevalent issue, but the fact that 9 million people have now viewed it is a testament to its national significance.

50 years ago we walked more and travelled less. While walking, we are subject to gravity, a faster heartbeat and sweating skin. We feel the air on our faces. The head moves up and down while the eyes move down and up to compensate. (Vestibular Ocular Reflex) On uneven ground, the eyes tell the feet where to go. It is a continuous information INput and motor  OUTput in the human body. Every part agrees that the body is moving through space and negotiating the environment,-.

However, these days, cars are more sophisticated with better shock absorbers, so the eyes sense movement, but the body does not experience this. Added to this, there is a follow/flick reflex that is observed when looking out of the window at the passing scenery. Looking through the right window the eyes follow right and flick left. The opposite is true through the left window. This gives the brain far more visual work to do.

Conflict is then in the body’s system. Something is not right and has to be rejected. How does the body get rid of the unwanted? Vomit!
